As we enter into February, now is a fine time to take note on how well you are following your New Year's goals and intentions.

Are you eating the foods and drinks that nourish your body, mind and spirit?

Are you living the life you envisioned for yourself?

Are you exercising your body?

For me, January has been an amazing month of personal growth, focused work and fun. The skiing here in Utah has been over the TOP! We have received over 320 inches of snow and I am loving every minute of it.

The 30 Day Whole Body and Mind Cleansing Program has been amazing this month.
How do I feel right now for example “tired, stressed, bored, lonely, angry, mad, sad, confused, totally happy.”
What am I hoping this sweet will do for me?
How do I imagine I will feel after I eat the sweet?
What is my intention for eating this sweet?

Step 4: After answering the questions, chose if you still want the sweet.

Step 5: If you chose to have the sweet is it possible to upgrade the quality of your sweet to the most amazing, best version possible of your sweet?

For example, last week I was craving a vegan chocolate chip cookie out of habit (because I got it in my mind that Saturday’s are a great day to enjoy a little treat.)

I stopped reviewed my questions and realized that I actually hate the way I feel after I eat those cookies!

Instead I powerfully chose to replace my low vibrational chocolate chip cookie craving with the most amazing, organic, high vibrational 70% organic dark cocoa, rich with Omega Oils, cocoa butter and organic vanilla beans. I ate one exquisite truffle and felt totally satisfied, nourished and over my sugar cravings (the only problem is as I write this I am craving another Truffle!)

Step 6: Love yourself up! Many times when you crave sugar you are actually longing for sweetness in your life. Make a list of ways you can nourish your body, mind and spirit without food.
Here are some examples:

Take a hot bath with lavender essential oil.

Get a hug or a kiss from your loved one.

Take a nap.

Pet your cat or dog.

Connect with nature.

Practice deep breathing.

Drink water or your favorite cup of herbal tea (chamomile, peppermint or ginger.)

Watch a movie or read a book.

Visualize your future, your dream life or plan a vacation.

Exercise in nature.

Play like a kid again.

I hope this assists you in kicking your sugar cravings to the curb for good!

Love and Health,
Amanda

© Amanda Moxley
Certified Holistic Health Counselor
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eaing4energy.com

Meal Planning

Yesterday I had a client ask me for a meal plan and I wanted to share my response to her question with you.

I personally do not like meal plans because I feel they take your ability to tap into your intuition away from you.

I encourage you to develop your intuition and your own unique way of eating that works for you and uniquely for you.

My intention is for you to develop some rock solid holistic nutrition principals, try new foods, become more quiet and be able to begin to LISTEN to your beautiful body.

You are the expert on you. Once you learn to listen, your body will speak to you more and more and its voice will get louder and louder and then you will learn to TRUST, Honor and respect your bodies wisdom. This is not an extreme diet or extreme fast or cleanse. You are developing a new way of eating, living and relating to food.

Having said that I will now offer some meal suggestions:

Eat grains for breakfast-oatmeal or Ezekial Toast or eggs and a sprouted whole wheat tortilla.

Drink the electrolyte lemonade for a snack or eat a Lara bar, or Nectar bar, apple, or other fruit, avocados, hummus and carrots.

Lunch -Eat one large organic salad every day! Eat grains, greens, beans, nuts, seeds, avocados, fruit or green juice. If you like eat tuna fish or chicken or fish.

Dinner- Ideas-Soup, salad, fish, Whole grain pasta like quinoa pasta and marinara, sweet potatoes, experiment with the recipes. I love eating vegetable stir fry with brown rice or quinoa.

The best thing to focus on is eat less meat, milk, sugar, artificial, chemicalized junk food. Add in more whole grains like quinoa, oatmeal, millet, amaranth, and brown rice. Enjoy more organic green leafy vegetables like kale, collards, chard, spinach, and romaine lettuce. Buy organic grass fed meat and less processed, artificial meats.

What are your favorite meal plans?

What do you think about meal plans?

Have you been on a meal plan in the past and how did it suit you?

I hope after reading this you feel empowered, excited and ready to try new foods and to begin to listen to your body. The possibilities are endless!

Try this exercise get a big piece of paper and draw four columns.

Step 1) In the first column: List all the foods you are 100% positive and happy eating every day of your life. The foods that give you joy, energy and radiance.

Step 2): In the second column: List all the foods that you wouldn't ideally eat on a daily basis but you would be ok with enjoying several times a week. These foods are good but they don’t give you that alive, juiced up feeling that clears your mind and helps you feel light in your body.

Step 3): In the third column: List the foods and drinks that you wouldn't eat UNLESS you were really stuck and there was nothing else to have

Step 4): In the fourth column: List all the foods that your body tells you it never wants to eat again.

Feel clearer?

Clarity is power and this exercise will really help you to get clear on what's important to you and why. It also may get you thinking more or assist you in knowing which foods feed your soul and which foods keep you playing small and feeling stuck.

Love and Health,

Amanda Moxley
Certified Holistic Health Counselor
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Twice a Day Visualization and Manifestation

Here is an example of a "script" I visualize, affirm and dream every day. Yes, I am a holistic health counselor and a Yoga teacher.

I woke up yesterday with glee in my heart. It was sunny and bright. I woke Johnn up and we rushed to the ski resort to enjoy a beautiful day of skiing fast and feeling filled with freedom.

Halfway through our day, we hiked and traversed for 20 minutes to the most beautiful bowl of steep, tree lined powder. We jumped in and laughed the whole way down.

Back on the lift, ready for more I thought to myself, “I really want a Burger.” Johnn absolutely loves when I talk like that and he really listens when I do because it only happens once or twice a year!

So last night at a pub we enjoyed a burger, fries and a beer.

The moral of this story is to listen to your body.

The interesting thing was that after the burger, beer and fries (and skiing all day), I felt tired. So what did I do? I picked myself up with four squares of dark chocolate and made it through the night!

The next time you get a craving for something “unhealthy” what are you going to do?

The best thing about my burger and fries dinner was that I listened to my body ate what it wanted and then let it go. Years ago I was unable to do this.

I think the most important thing to do is bounce back the next day by eating really healthy, nutritious and delicious food!

Thanks for reading!

Amanda Moxley
Certified Holistic Health Counselor
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Winter Nutrition

Winter Nutrition
By Amanda Moxley

Happy 2008! We are officially in the depths of winter and I love it! The skiing in Utah has been phenomenal!

I find it fascinating that in the darkest, coldest time of the year we westerners are running around like chickens with our heads cut off, while nature silently sleeps and surrenders. As I write, I see the snow falling outside of my window silently blanketing my beautiful maple, spruce, apricot trees and dormant garden. I am reminded of nature's stillness and try to mirror her stillness in my own life. I recommend that you too attempt to mirror the calm quiet energy of nature this January.

In March when the birds begin to chirp and the grass turns green you will emerge into the birth of spring renewed, refreshed and revitalized.

This January nourish yourself with healthy, whole foods that will keep you warm, grounded, calm and healthy.

Enjoy whole grains such as oats, quinoa, amaranth and brown rice.

Stock up on root vegetables such as beets, carrots, burdock root, parsnips, onions, garlic, leeks, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, turnips and winter squash.

Stay warm and hydrated by drinking warm water with lemon and ginger (honey is optional.) Sip on cardamom, chamomile, cinnamon, orange peel and mint teas.

Liven up your vegetables and organic grass fed meat with warming spices such as cayenne, cinnamon, coriander, cumin, fennel, anise, basil, black pepper, dill and clove.

Eat good fats to keep you warm like avocados, olive oil, coconut butter and oil, sesame oil, flax seeds, brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts and pistachios.

Go to bed early and sleep late!

Written by Amanda Moxley
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
Certified Holistic Health Counselor
www.eating4energy.com

Jump start Your New Year with a Cleanse led by Amanda
Have the body and the life of your dreams in 2008.
Lose weight naturally and keep it off for GOOD!
Feel awesome in your body 365 days a year.
Register at www.eating4energy.com

How to Be Pulled Into Your Future with Joy and Delight!

Happy 2008 to you! This year is going to be the very best ever, I can just feel it. I am happy to be back on my Blog and intend to Blog for you at least four times a week.

I truly look forward to supporting you this entire year and beyond.

Have you written your 2008 goals and intentions yet?

I have enjoyed getting crystal clear on exactly what I want to manifest this year and it feels so good. I am super excited, so much that I awake each morning with butterflies in my belly!

This weekend I spent some really fun quality time creating my 2008 Vision Board. I have been playing with Vision Boards for several years now, and I am continuously blown away by the power of co-creating with the Universe. I highly recommend that you create your Vision Board and then sit back and watch the Universe work its magic!

Here are some tips to help you create and cement your 2008 vision.

Crafting Your Vision Board
By Amanda Moxley
How to be pulled into your future with joy and delight.

Step 1: Dream BIG and imagine your ideal life.

Step 2: Write about your BIG dream in your journal. You can categorize your ideal life into different segments such as Home Cooking and Healthy Eating, Your Ideal Body, Your Ideal Relationship, Travel and Adventures, Education and Self Improvement Classes (like my 30 Day Whole Body and Mind Cleanse and my 30 Days to Optimal Health Programs), Abundance and Finances, Giving and Sharing, Your Career and Dream Job, etc.

Step 3: Enjoy picking pictures, phrases and words out of your favorite magazines. Clip pictures that really jazz you up and get you super excited about your future.

Step 4: Get a paper board that calls to you (mine is yellow) what color is yours?

Step 5: Breathe and take your time gluing your pictures onto your board. It may take you a month don’t rush, take your time and enjoy your vision board journey!

Step 6: Here is a really cool tip, harness the power of the Universe by creating your Vision Board on the New Moon. The New Moon is a wonderful time to birth new ideas, dreams and visions. Then on the full moon take your Vision Board outside and bake it in the moonlight (feel the beautiful moon energy charging your Vision Board with love and light.)

Step 8: Hang your Vision Board where you will see it every day. Find a special wall in your bedroom, office or kitchen. Mine is on the wall next to my bed. It is the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. My Vision Board pulls me out of bed and gets me excited about my life in a really positive way.

Step 9: Look at it daily, close your eyes and visualize your ideal life. Get into the feeling of what it would feel like if your vision was a reality now.

Step 10: Keep adding to it. If you see some pictures that really juice you up add them to your board as you move through the year.

Step 11: Take your Vision Board down when the time is right, put the date on it and store it somewhere special. Be grateful for your Vision and the amazing Universe and make a new one!

Creating your vision is a VERY powerful way to pull you forward into your future.

It allows you to become crystal clear on your vision, hopes, dreams and desires for the year. If you can spot it, you got it!

I love hearing from you! Please share your experiences with creating Vision Boards with me.

Love and Health,
Amanda

Amanda Moxley
Certified Holistic Health Counselor
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Thank You 2007

I sit her in gratitude and deep appreciation for the amazingness of 2007. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Today I am choosing to allow my light to shine bright! I intend to live in gratitude and to be awed by the magic of the Holiday Season as if I am a child again. For 400years it survived only in remote, inaccessible areas of the high plains in the Andes.

Quinoa is a real superfood that will give you lots of sustained energy because it is a complex carbohydrate and a complete protein(one of the few vegetarian sources). I love it. I love life.

Today I am writing my first e-book. It is called "How to Feel Hot and Healthy in Your Body 365 days a year." What do you think?

I intend to turn it loose by December 28th, 2007 just in time for the New Year.

Have you let the darkness of the late fall days bring you down?

If you answered yes than here are some great tips for embracing the darkest part of the year:

1. Get in rhythm with nature and tuck yourself into bed by 7 p.m. at least one night a week. Stay in bed until the sun shines again the next day.

2. Take a hot bath with Epsom salt and lavender essential oil.

3. Go sledding and pretend you are a kid again! Go fast!

4. Cozy up near a warm fire with a cup of peppermint or ginger tea with your sweety.

5. Go to the library and get a ton of good books that you would never have a chance to read during the hectic summer months.

6. Chop up onions, carrots, celery, garlic, sweet potatoes and lentils in a crock pot before you leave your house in the morning so you can come home to a healthy and nutritious meal.

7. Live in gratitude for the beauty of your life.

8. Share

These tips are inspired by my work as a Holistic Health Counselor. I hope they assist you in attaining optimal health and in living the life of your dreams!

Love and Health,
Amanda Moxley
Holistic Health Counselor
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Kale with Raisins and Toasted Pine Nuts

As a holistic health counselor I love sharing easy to make delicious and nutritious recipes with my clients and friends. Kale is my favorite green leafy vegetable because it tastes so good and it is packed with an abundant supply of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Greens are good for your lungs and immune system. I recommend eating at least 1-3 servings of greens daily to keep the Doctor away!

Kale with Raisins and Toasted Pine Nuts

Serves 4-6

¼ cup toasted pine nuts
¾ pound kale (about 6 cups chopped)
2 cups water
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup of raisins
sea salt to taste

1) Toast pine nuts in a dry skillet stirring frequently so not to burn or place in a 325 degree oven for 5 minutes or until golden. Set aside.

2) Strip the leaves off the kale stalks. Discard stalks and roughly chop kale. Bring the water to a boil in a large skillet that has a tight fitting lid. Add the kale and cook, covered over high heat, stirring occasionally, until tender, approximately 5 minutes.

3) Rinse out and dry the skillet, then use it to heat the olive oil over medium heat, lifting and tilting the pan to coat. Add garlic and sauté for 15 seconds. Add raisins and sauté for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent browning or burning. Raisins should be glossy and slightly puffed.

4) Add greens and stir to combine. Season with salt to taste and cover for a minute until greens are heated through. Serve hot, garnished with toasted pine nuts.

Enjoy!
Amanda Moxley
Holistic Health Counselor
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Welcome to December

This is the month to give love to yourself. Last night Johnn (my hubby) sliced me a piece (I didn't want it) of the leftover death by chocolate cake which I ate with joy and gratitude.

The down side to the death cake was that the rich, dark chocolate affected my quality of sleep. When I woke up at 5 a.m. to teach Yoga, I made a "note to self" about how eating chocolate within three hours of bedtime keeps me up and affects the quality of my sleep.

Now I know and knowledge is power and freedom.

Next time you feel off after eating a certain food make a "note to self." Most importantly keep your "notes to self" and next time the same or similar situation arises remember what you learned! Your body is communicating with you every day of your life.

When you practice yoga and any other form of mind, body and spirit exercise you connect to your body in an intentional way for the duration of your practice. When you make this connection on a daily basis your bodies voice becomes stronger and louder and you can her speak to you.

Yoga practice has been a part of my daily life for the past six years and in these past several years I have healed from all emotional and food related issues. I have developed a deep connection to my body and am able to listen to, trust and respect her guidance, wants and dislikes.

Many times in our fast past world we are driven by the clock, the holiday season, work demands and family and we completely ignore the ancient wisdom our beautiful body wants to share.

I encourage you to create an intention to begin a mind, body and spirit exercise practice like yoga, ti-chi, chi gong or kong fu so that you can establish this sacred connection to your beautiful body!

Love and Health,
Amanda Moxley
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Women, Why are We So Hard on Ourselves?

Yesterday I was working with several of my amazing, intelligent and beautiful clients and they each shared with me their desires to lose their "upper thigh flab", their "flabby bellies" and their "flabby arms."

I couldn't help but to feel a little sad. What I see in them is their beauty, intelligences, their strong feminine bodies, their kindness and grace.

What saddens me is that we women are so hard on ourselves. We beat ourselves up black and blue with our mean thoughts and hurtful feelings.

What if we could love ourselves as much as we love a new born baby? What if we could nourish and soothe ourselves like we would a child? What if we could become our own best friend and commit to always loving and cherishing ourselves?

That is my hope for the day, may all women everywhere recognize the divinity and magic in themselves.

Love,
Amanda

The Ancient Inca's and You

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_7HHqgr84NcY/R0xHy36XthI/AAAAAAAAAAU/ejs_o8DLp2A/s320/MachuPichuPeru+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137560214250698258" />
I have been thinking about my magical journey to Peru lately. The Ancient Incas built their entire culture and civilization without electricity, computers, refrigerators, cars, washing machines, cell phones and I-pods. They lived in communion with Mother Earth (Pachamama), the stars and moon.

With global warming becoming more and more evident I have become very aware of the resources I consume and support. I hope to inspire you to become more conscious of the choices you make in regards to food and energy consumption.

How much do we really need? When will we finally have enough? Why must we go outside of ourselves to become fulfilled? I believe that we have all that we need inside of our own hearts and souls. Each of us is unique in our ability to deeply connect with our hearts and souls. You can connect through mediation, yoga, prayer, silence, nature, drumming, dancing, intimacy with another being, skiing, playing with children, laughing, relaxing, art, singing etc.

The manner in which you connect to your heart and soul does not matter. What matters is that you dig deep and connect within everyday.

Turn your lights off in your home, be in the dark. What comes up for you? Turn your heat down, put a yummy sweater on and a warm hat and snuggle under a blanket. Look at the stars and express thanks for being alive in this exciting time on the planet. Bless your water. Smile at a stranger.

When we respect Mother Nature we learn to respect ourselves.

Thanksgiving Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving to you! Did you order your Thanksgiving turkey yet? Before you do, ask yourself a few questions... How was your turkey raised? Did it grow up running around in the sun, happily ranging freely in the grass? (Free- ranging animal protein contains a much higher amount of Omega 3 fatty acids than animals raised in a factory farm.) Did you find your turkey at the grocery store? What did the label say? Does your turkey contain added ingredients such as nitrates and sugars? Don't be fooled by the word natural. The labeling laws around this are very loose. Look for the words organic and free-range. Your best bet is to go straight to a family farm where the turkeys have been well cared for. So you would rather not eat a turkey... Beware of imitation meat products. They usually contain isolated proteins, which are very dangerous for your nervous system.

Whatever you decide to eat this season, eat it with gratitude and chew it well. Breathe and smile as you eat and your body will thank you!

November 23rd Buy Nothing Day

November 23rd, the heaviest shopping day of the year, will mark the day that concerned citizens in as many as 65 countries will hit the streets for a 24-hour consumer fast in celebration of the 15th annual Buy Nothing Day, a global cultural phenomenon that originated in Canada. Buy Nothing Day focuses on concerns about the ecological, psychological and political consequences of our consumer culture and the impact of our materialism on society.

Community Organizations in Utah have joined together for this year’s second annual Buy Nothing Day Winter Coat Exchange at Library Plaza, 200 East 400 South in Salt Lake City from 10am to 2pm. These organizations hope to set the example of sharing, giving and reusing without consuming the planet.

Bring your winter coats, jackets and sweaters between 10am and 2pm on the 23rd to Library Plaza. If you need a coat, come get one. If you have a coat, we know someone who can use it.

Left over coats will be donated to the Crossroads Urban Center Thrift Store.

Information: 631-2998 or info@blueskyinstitute.org

http://www.blueskyinstitute.org/

Maya Angelou's Best Poem Ever

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SH OULD HAVE...
a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE....
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
a feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
1. Make up your mind that you are ready to change and then commit to giving it your 100% effort!

2. Stop eating chocolate, cookies, muffins (to avoid a muffin top waist), candy bars and other sweet processed treats for a week or two.

3. Replace processed crackers with gluten free flax crackers, the brand I like is "Mary's Gone Crackers", eat more crunchy vegetables like carrots, celery (boring I know but they are crunchy), and crunchy apples, organic of course.

4. Stop eating all chips at least for a week or two. Chips are nothing but fried corn or potatoes, chemicals, additives and salt. Replace chips with other salty crunchy alternatives such as sea vegetables like nori and dulse or snack on olives and raw nuts.

5. Exercise! Seriously you gotta use it or you'll lose it. You may be thinking that you do not have time to exercise but that is just an excuse. I recommend getting your calendar, palm pilot or day planner out right now and scheduling in exactly when you can exercise this week, ask a friend to hold you to your promise to yourself. As a side note just because you exercised today does not give you an excuse to eat more or eat "whatever" you want.

Amanda Moxley
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Writing New Moon Intentions

Creating New Moon Intentions

Here is a ritual on how to work with the new moon Energy to help manifest your intentions. The new moon is the time in nature when it is easy to start new projects and create new intentions. It is also a good way to deepen your connection to the earth.

Today is a New Moon.

New Moon Intentions are a concrete way of stating what you want in your life. Some of your wants will take time to manifest, others will come quickly. Your intentions or wishes are written statements of what you want to manifest for the coming Moon cycle.

Your list should consist of at least two wishes and no more than ten, so as not to scatter the energy. Start each wish with the words I intend because you are stating what you want to fulfill your desires and needs.

NEW MOON ABUNDANCE CHECK During the first eight hours of the New Moon write a check to yourself. Write your name in the section labeled "Pay to the order of". Write Paid in Full in both the amount sections. Sign the check with the words, Law of Abundance. Place the check on your altar or put it in a special place and prepare to receive!

I have been writing my New Moon intentions every month for more than a year. I write them on the new moon and then place my intentions outside under the full moon two weeks later and let them bake. I found writing my intentions in rhythm with nature is a very powerful way to co-create my life with the Universe.

Write your new moon intentions today!

Amanda Moxley
Holistic Nutrition and Life Balance Expert
www.eating4energy.com

Does your food have more frequent miles than you?

Here are some compelling reasons why you should eat locally:

*Support your community
*Get the freshest, flavorful and most nutritive produce available
*Mass farming depends on fossil fuels, depletes soils, and poisons waterways
*Eating locally reduces second hand consumption of fossil fuels caused by trucking and shipping produce
*Californian lettuce eaten in NYC travels 2,993 miles
*It costs the equivalent to 11,150 calories of energy to fly a two-pound Hawaiian pineapple to Des Moines, Iowa
*If one million people switched to locally produced food for a year, we'd eliminate up to 625,000 tons of CO2.
*Long hauled food loses vitamins and gains contaminants

To reach your plate, the typical meal travels roughly 22,000 miles! Each ingredient-meat, fish, vegetables, spices, eggs, fruit, milk, grains- is trucked or flown from where it's grown to where it's packaged to where it's sold, burning fossil fuel. Add the greenhouse gases created by the production and distribution of fertilizers, antibiotics, pesticides, and so on- not to mention the environmental havoc they wreak-plus the paper, plastic and aluminum used for packaging, as well as their disposal, and you start to get the big picture. Confessions

Guilt, shame and blame was a constant state of being for me growing up a Catholic school girl.

I would wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I would sit on the toilet at three a.m. and I would ask myself “what did you eat yesterday?” My mind would review the chocolate, bread, cookies and or alcohol that I guiltily ate and then the punishment would begin.

I beat myself up black and blue with mean unloving thoughts of inadequacy, judgment and blame. I feared that I would get beaten by the fat stick, my clothes would never fit and that I was always going to hate my body.

This middle of the night punishment went on for years! No wonder I continued to hold on to weight, food cravings, binges and obsessions.

Have you ever done this?

I have never shared this with anyone! Can you believe it?

This entire drama played out in my mind every single night! No one knew, I hardly new I was doing this to myself.

It wasn’t until I began practicing yoga and mediation that I was able to clearly distinguish the difference between the “monkey mind” and the “loving real Self” that dwells inside like a slow burning flame every day of our lives.

I have studied, lived and practiced the “law of attraction” since I was 18 years old.

As the years have flown by my understanding of the magnificent power of the universe and the law of attraction has increased and NOW I finally get it!

Thoughts are powerful!

My three a.m. punishment time attracted more weight and poor self esteem than if I ate the healthiest food on the planet.

Now I believe that eating healthy foods is essential to a radiant life but the most important piece to being happy and healthy is being able to discern your thoughts.

How do you do this?

Begin to observe your thoughts just like you would watch a movie. Your mind is the projector, when you observe, your mind is “watching” the thoughts. When you watch a movie you are not attached to the movie, you are simply watching. This is exactly what you must do with your thoughts. All you have to do is watch your thoughts.

Begin to notice when your “monkey mind” is taking over.

What does the monkey mind look and act like? Thoughts of inadequacy, fear, doubt, worry, shame, blame, guilt, jealousy, hatred, comparison, judgment, lack etc. These are all ego based fears which are not real.

The only thing that is REAL and absolute is LOVE!

How do you know when love is speaking or acting? You have thoughts of kindness, compassion, generosity, abundance, hope, peace, happiness, excitement, acceptance and joy.

Your REAL SELF is sitting in the right side of your heart every day of your beautiful life. Your real SELF is unaffected by pain or pleasure, have or have not, loneliness or boredom, your real SELF is omnipresent, omnipotent, limitless and formless.
http://www.eating4energy.com/

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://eatingforenergy.blogspot.com/2007/11/three-am-confessions.html' title='Three A.M. Sodium nitrite is linked to causing cancer, it’s found in processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, sausage. Used to make meats appear red (a color fixer chemical).

Step 4: Look for hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, corn starch, enriched wheat and enriched flour. Hydrogenated oils (trans fat) are linked to causing heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, general deterioration of cellular health, and much more. Found in cookies, crackers, margarine and many "manufactured" foods. Trans fats are used to make oils stay in the food to extend shelf life. Sometimes also called "plastic fat."

Step 5: Look for excitotoxins -- aspartame, monosodium glutamate and others. These neurotoxic chemical additives directly harm nerve cells, over- exciting them to the point of cell death, according to Dr. Russell Blaylock. They're found in diet soda, canned soup, salad dressing, breakfast sausage and even many manufactured vegetarian foods. They're used to add flavor to over-processed foods,.
boring foods that have had the life cooked out of them.

Step 6: ALWAYS READ THE INGREDIENT LIST. If you need a chemistry degree to pronounce the list, it's not real food.
Most boxed food is "fast" food or "convenient "food. Mashed potatoes, chips, macaroni and cheese, pasta, instant rice, muffin and cake mix, stuffing, cereal, crackers and cookies.
This type of packaged food robs your body of real nutrients. Buy packaged foods that sound like you could make them yourself, with ingredients you could buy easily.

Step 7: What to do with the "I am ready to let go of these foods and make a change for my health" pile? You have 2 two choices, you can donate the “food” to a local food pantry or you can throwough it away.

Stuffed Roasted Acorn Squash

Stuffed Roasted Acorn Squash

This is amazing! I baked the acorn squash on Sunday night, kept them in the refrigerator, made the stuffing on Wednesday night, heated the stuffed squash up in the oven and then enjoyed a fabulously delicious meal. You are going to love it! I love hearing from you!

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
2 acorn squash
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
2 tablespoons olive oil
sea salt and pepper

Stuffing
1 cup cooked whole grain (quinoa, brown rice, millet, barley)
1 onion, finely diced
1 zucchini, diced
1/4 cup golden raisins or currants
1/2 cup toasted pumpkin seeds, chopped
1/2 cup parsley, chopped
3 teaspoons curry
1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cut acorn squash in half and clean out seeds and fibers. Cut a very thin slice off the bottom, so that the
acorn squash halves can sit flat like soup bowls.
3. Brush with olive oil, and spread garlic evenly over the 4 bowls, sprinkle with salt and pepper, place on a
baking sheet and bake for 35 minutes.
4. While baking, in a skillet sauté onion, curry and raisins for 3 minutes. Add cooked grains and stir for 5
minutes.
5. Remove skillet from heat and mix in parsley and zucchini.
6. Fill each squash bowl with stuffing and top with chopped pumpkin seeds and bake in the oven for 15-20
minutes or until the squash is soft (when a butter knife sinks into the squash with ease). Serve warm.

Apples

I am beginning my 30 day Whole Body and Mind Cleansing group program with 22 courageous and beautiful people tonight. I am ecstatic and honored to be guiding them on their journey to healthy living!

I bought 18 pounds of organic local apples from the farmer's market last Saturday. Mother Nature is blessing us with her abundance of apples!

My neighborhood is an abundant fruit orchard. There are pear, apple, apricot, peach and cherry trees blooming all summer long. I find it very strange that the majority of these divine fruits are left rotting on manicured chemical laiden lawns and no one seems to care!

A few weekends ago, Johnn and I went for a walk and harvested an entire months worth of apples and peaches. We came home and I baked applesauce muffins, apple sauce and apple squash soup!

Here are some great benefits of eating apples: apples are very high in fiber and help cleanse the intestines of impurities. Apples and fresh live apple juice speed up the bowels and heal irritation while cleansing excessive mucus caused by eating a lot of bread, pasta and dairy. Mucus can stay in your body and can cause constipation, malabsorption, and irritation or bleeding to the intestinal wall.
